Chief Justice Martha Koome has made it clear that on the cases related to enforcing discipline in schools would be dismissed. She made the statement during the Thanksgiving and Form One Welcome Mass at Loreto High School.
According to Koome, the judiciary does not encourage or promote indiscipline among students in school and it should be the responsibility of the parents to discipline their children and teach them the right path to follow. She also said that whoever causes any pain or injury to the children will be imprisoned for 20 years.

Chief Justice Martha Koome’s gag order stopping the public comments on the presidential election petition has been challenged in the court by a lawyer named Omwanza Ombati.
The lawyer has filed a petition in High Court arguing that this action is unconstitutional and curtails people’s freedom of expression whereas Koome defended the gag order stating that it is aimed at protecting judicial integrity.
