Meg Lanning is an Australian women’s Cricket Team Captain. She has been a part of 6 victorious world championship campaigns and winning 2 Women’s Cricket World Cup and 4 ICC Women’s World T-20 titles. She also secure the record for the most Woman’s One Day International Centuries. She has made a massive effect at both domestic and international levels.

Lanning was born in Singapore. She recently said that in upcoming Commonwealth Games Cricket appearance could help the sport to enter in the Olympics. Australian women’s Cricket Team will be competing at the Birmingham, which is starting from 28 July. Cricket is returning in Commonwealth Games for the first time. Commonwealth Games starts in 1998, since this is the first time where cricket sport is also taking part.

Meg Lanning Career

Lanning began playing domestic cricket at the age of 10. She is the first Australian to score 2000 T-20 international runs. In domestic games, she is the captain of Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash Leauge and Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League. She made her Domestic Debut at the age of 16 for Victoria in 2008.

Lanning made her international cricket debut in T-20 against New Zealand on 30 December 2010 at Oval. In January 2022, Lanning became the 3rd cricketer after Charlotte Edwards(England’s Captain) and Mitali Raj(India’s Captain) to complete her 150 international Matches.

Meg is hoping that Cricket would be in olympics too. The next Olympic Edition will be held in Paris.  in 2024. And followed by Los Angeles in 2028 and at Brisbane in 2032.
