In 1986 Anil moved in to the manufacturing of Jelly-filled cables, by puting up a factory at the cost of 7 Cr. against the working cost of 30-40 Crore.
Sterlite Industries became the first company in India for a copper smelter & refinery in the private sector. In the same year, Anil had also controlled the largest capacity cast copper rod plants.
