Gamini had been a student of Computer Science Engineering, and yet changed her path and decided to take the UPSC exam. Her professors from PEC Chandigarh praised Gamini for her achievement and wished her for her future endeavors.
Gamini cleared her UPSC exam on the second attempt. She credited her success to her father and to his coaching faculty Vinod Sir in Patiala. She mostly opted for self-study while preparing for the exam by studying for around 9 to 10 hours per day.
The UPSC Civil Services 2021 preliminary exams began on October 10, 2021, and the Mains were conducted on January 7, 8, 9, 15, and 16, 2022. The qualified candidates were then interviewed from April 5 to May 26, 2022.
